What are the length and limitations of Hong Kong local SMS messages?
Here's how SMS is calculated:
In English encoding, SMS messages are limited to 160 characters. If the message contains Unicode characters (such as emojis or non-English characters), the limit is 70 characters. If the message exceeds these limits, it will be split into multiple SMS messages:
English SMS (containing only English letters and numbers):
- First segment is 160 characters.
- Second segment includes 146 characters.
- Each subsequent segment is calculated as 153 characters.
Unicode SMS (containing Chinese characters):
- First segment is 70 characters.
- Second segment includes 64 characters.
- Each subsequent segment is calculated as 67 characters.
Character counts include spaces and punctuation. If the SMS contains Chinese characters, it will be calculated as Chinese SMS.
Whether emojis/new Chinese characters display correctly depends on whether the phone has the relevant emoji and character libraries installed, otherwise the received SMS may display differently.
What are the length and limitations of local MMS messages?

Requirements for multimedia files are as follows:
- Images should be in JPEG format, animations should be in GIF format, and need to be designed vertically to fit the vertical display of most phones and tablets.
- In Hong Kong, image and animation file sizes must not exceed 200 KB. In China, sizes must not exceed 80 KB.
- For better readability, text content is recommended to be less than 500 characters, and titles should be less than 64 characters.
